Would your friends hook you up with a ride on a private jet?
Cameron Herold’s Bigger Pockets podcast interview back in 2020 covered all things Vivid Vision (and we even designed a custom Vivid Vision for one of their listeners in a later episode).
But there’s one very brief story he tells that you don’t want to miss:
“I talked to a friend of mine the other day. I went to a friend’s 50th birthday party, and this friend of mine, Mike, came up to me and he’s like, “Hey, how’s it going?” I’m like, “Oh my God, I haven’t seen you in like eight years.” And he said, “How is your bucket list coming? How’s your vivid vision coming?” He read my vivid vision. It was 10 years ago that I wanted to fly in a private jet. He hooked me up to go for a flight in his private jet! That one sentence was crossed off. Well, now I’ve flown in a ton of private jets, but that kind of began the process of thinking bigger and connecting with bigger clients.”
Because someone had seen (and remembered) his Vivid Vision they were able to ask him about it.
And even though Cameron shared this about his own personal Vivid Vision, it highlights a powerful benefit of clearly communicating your vision in business as well: letting accountability drive momentum.
You can hold yourself accountable to creating the vision you have for the future.
Your team can hold you, and each other, accountable for executing on the vision.
And even friends or loved ones, as in Cameron’s example, can hold you accountable to your vision.
And if you’re interested in creating a Vivid Vision for your business, and you’re looking for examples, look no further: After helping 450+ businesses create their Vivid Vision, we have a ton for you to model as you begin to craft your own.

Vivid Vision Example: Cameron Herold’s COO Alliance
Snapshot
Key Takeaway #1: Cameron uses the classic snapshot on the front page of his Vivid Vision for the COO Alliance. Nice and simple.
Key Takeaway #2: The reason for this is so that anyone who comes across Cameron’s Vivid Vision will know exactly what it is—even if they’re not familiar with the concept of a Vivid Vision. And he closes by stating why he’s sharing it with you.
Key Takeaway #3: This is a more “business casual” snapshot. Other businesses use this to give a peak into what the company looks and feels like in the future. You can see the difference in the examples section of this post.
Members
Key Takeaway #1: Cameron uses valuable real estate in the document to highlight one of the most important parts of his vision: the COO Alliance is a peer support group. It’s all about the members, which is why the first section is dedicated to those who make up this exclusive network.
Key Takeaway #2: It’s clear what type of members Cameron wants to attract. Not only is he clear about revenue numbers, but also characteristics: Members must have a desire to learn, a willingness to share, and be growth-oriented.
Key Takeaway #3: Cameron uses the “where we were” trick to show the contrast between where the Alliance is and where he’d like it to be. This gives everyone a clear understanding of what to aim for.
What It Looks Like
Key Takeaway #1: Future members know exactly what to expect, with the entire year’s schedule laid out in the first two lines.
Key Takeaway #2: After Cameron gives the details, he goes into the most desirable qualities he looks for in a member: someone who is interactive and willing to share.
Key Takeaway #3: Then he closes out this short section with another quality: a team player who will support others in their growth.
Location
Key Takeaway #1: Again, anybody considering becoming a member knows what to expect, with this small section opening with the exact locations of COO events.
Key Takeaway #2: Cameron reminds the members it’s a relatable and personable experience. He’s hosting cocktail parties at his home for God’s sake.
Key Takeaway #3: Then he closes with the exact itinerary, making sure to emphasize the main point of incorporating fun into all the events.
World-Class Content
Key Takeaway #1: The largest section of Cameron’s Vivid Vision, the World-Class Content portion, outlines the value that potential members get out of joining the COO Alliance; with the format, and variety to lead the way, followed up with a promise of confidentiality.
Key Takeaway #2: How members collaborate on solving problems for themselves and their cohort is a huge part of what makes this group so special. And this is spelled out for the reader in this line: “This is how we’re going to help each other become better leaders, together.”
Key Takeaway #3: And of course, anyone reading Cameron’s Vivid Vision because they’re interested in joining the COO Alliance will want to know exactly what they’re going to take away. A nice bulleted list of the core topics bookends this portion of the Vivid Vision.
Connect & Recharge
Key Takeaway #1: Intensive events like those that COO Alliance members will attend can be strenuous—taking in lots of information in a short amount of time always is. So Cameron dedicated a portion of his Vivid Vision to how he intends to help them recharge.
Key Takeaway #2: Specific activities are laid out so potential members know what to expect.
Key Takeaway #3: And Cameron again dedicates valuable Vivid Vision real estate to highlight how much fun they’ll have, but anchors it back into how that fun facilitates connection.
Benefits & Community
Key Takeaway #1: Cameron opens the benefits section with a promise framed as if it has already been delivered: members will leave with ideas worth 10X their investment.
Key Takeaway #2: Each point after showcases how that 10X value is achieved. He outlines the accountability component, but even more importantly, he describes how members feel, speaking to the emotional benefit of each feature.
Key Takeaway #3: Cameron concludes this section of the Vivid Vision by reiterating that their greatest advantage is the community and that the second in command no longer has to waste time with events that weren’t created with them in mind—they’ve found their tribe.
The Culture
Key Takeaway #1: While most Vivid Vision culture sections express how the organization’s culture looks and feels, Cameron does something different. He captures the essence of the COO Alliance’s culture, using it as an opportunity to highlight core characteristics of how the members show up.
Key Takeaway #2: The spotlight is on two main member qualities: a desire for growth and a hunger for learning.
Key Takeaway #3: And he ties it off by stating concretely that their culture supports sharing openly, and holding each other accountable.
Marketing
Key Takeaway #1: Cameron states in this section that attracting new members is the COO Alliance’s biggest goal.
Key Takeaway #2: One of the ways in which they’ll do so is to add value throughout the sales funnel. Once people come into their world, they are being pushed to grow and see what’s possible.
Key Takeaway #3: And all of their content, ads, podcast appearances, and other marketing are designed so that they are everywhere their market is, so the people they can help see them consistently.
Our Team
Key Takeaway #1: The team section opens with a sentence that packs as many desirable characteristics into it without crossing over into a run-on. Only then is the key leadership role quickly introduced.
Key Takeaway #2: The necessary departments are listed off (freelancers included) and how the team aligns itself is outlined quarterly, monthly, and weekly. Critical focus points like attracting new members and curating world-class content are highlights. Then it closes with the core purpose behind why they do what they do—ZERO FLUFF!
Key Takeaway #3: Then, Cameron strategically concludes the Vivid Vision in such a way that anyone who wants to help turn what they read into a reality knows what he’s looking for.
